  • Hallo Marko, welche "Flyer" meinst Du? Ich habe seit längerem keine Flyer oder Visitenkarten von NJF mehr hergestellt, erhalten oder verteilt.
    Die Magnetsticker hatte ich mal fürs NJF hergestellt und später welche für den Jeep Stammtisch HH-SH.

    • Hallo zurück,


      Als ich damals (vor inzwischen etwa 3 Jahren) gesucht habe, war das Angebot noch dünner als heute und der Thule war mir einfach nicht geradlinig genug. Ich habe also nach Dachkörben gesucht und bin auf die Firma ROLA in den USA gestoßen. Der Dachkorb war im Internet sehr günstig und passte von den Maßen wie die Faust aufs Auge. Auch gab es noch eine Verlängerung (ca. 35 cm mehr), die ich aber nur mal testweise montiert hatte, weil mir der kurze Korb ausreichte und meines Erachtens auch besser optisch passt. Die Versandkosten aus den USA machten den massiven und recht gut verarbeiteten Korb allerdings (fast) genauso teuer wie hier angebotene Dachkörbe.

      definitely, the Compass looks good with some more space below. I also guess, that the quality of the spacers is quite ood and that there should not be too many fitting issues. Check however the shipping costs, because free shipping ist only for 48 States in the USA. If it is comparable with my ROLA Roof Rack, you probably end up with approx 500 € just for the material.


      Anyway, the US Version - especially the Trailhawk, have one size bigger tires as well, when they come from the factory.

    I will be going to the treff in Juni. I hope to see you there.
    I have tried to make reservations over the net but it does not seem to work.
    Later this week I will be calling to make my reservations.


    So now i have Just a little over 24thk on the compi and I am still very excited about this little jeep. The transmission problem seems to be fixed. The heating will be looked at in the next couple of days and there is NOT a fix for the Uconnect yet.


    I also asked about different tires sizes for the compass. Just the three that are in the auto papers are allowed and highly recommended. To change from those will be very costly both for the car and the TUV. SO I will be staying in those ranges, but on 17". ATR tires will be bought after my winter tires are worn out.


    A lift kit is available (1.5"- 4") and I will be getting that (1.5") sometime in the near future, if it has an EBE. There are also skid plates available, I will trying to get those before anything and they are the most expensive because they come out of the USA and will be needed the most before anything else. My jeep service is trying to get some info about the Trialhawk skid plates and if they will fit on the limited 170ps diesel version.


    I test drove the JL and Jk Wrangler Unlimited yesterday very nice...still to far out of my price range, one day....


    I even looked for used older versions but they hold their price and are still too much money for what you get in this case, compared to the Compass in comfort and interior accessories. I looked at the 2019 Renegade Trailhawk also. Sorry I like the compass better, even though I do not have a Trailhawk. But they drive the Limited all over in India through and over everything, so I guess it works. I have been off road with mine 3x now, but I would feel better with the above mentioned upgrades.


    Just wanted to check and see how you were doing. And to see if you got moved ok.

      thanks for your nice update.


      Having some skid-plates below is pretty nice, because you don't have to worry too much about damaging something important down below. Having a little lift besides that would almost complete having a bit more "spare" in offroad conditions.


      I am wondering, what kind of lift kit you are talking about. Based on yout info, that it is possible from 1.5 - 4 inch, I would think, that you are talking about spacers. Well, I know that those are also available for the Renegade but I still think, that another set of springs is the better solution for cars, build like ours.


      With regard to the tire-sizes, you're right: rules and regulations in Europe and especially in Germeny are a bit weird. With the right person at the TüV and a willing and able workshop, many things still are possible.


      Anyhow, I wish all the best for your plans and look forward to meeting you agan during the next annual meeting. By the way, I also reserved my room via phone - seems to be easier, especially for "group-reservations"

  • Hallo Pete, herzlichen Dank für Deine immer guten Antworten auf meine Fragen.
    Letzens waren wir noch in Deiner Ecke. Hätte ich gewusst, dass Du in der Gegend wohnst, wäre ich vielleicht mal vorbeigekommen. Hab's aber erst im Nachhinein daran erkannt, dass Du DBR- Kennzeichen fährst.


    Vielleicht klappt's ja ein anderes Mal?

      Tja, leider werde ich meine geliebte Ostseeküste ab Oktober erst einmal verlassen, denn mein Dienstherr meinte mich auf meine letzten 4 1/4 Jahre im Dienst noch einmal versetzen zu müssen. Dann werde ich also ein paar Jährchen in Pinneberg wohnen und in Blankenese an der Führungsakademie arbeiten. Hamburg kann aber auch eine Reise wert sein!

    • Ah - ok. War nur W15er und Anfang 1980 bei den amphibischen Pionieren in Plön. Die Kaserne gibt's schon gar nicht mehr. In Plön war (damals) auch die MUS - kam man immer dran vorbei auf dem Weg in die Stadt...

    • Tja, siehst Du - die letzten Jahre habe ich daran gearbeitet, wieder eine amphibische Gruppe aufzubauen - wir machen das inzwischen gemeinsam mit dem niederländischen Korps Mariniers und ab etwa 2030 sollten dann auch wieder große Landungsschiffe zur Verfügung stehen.

  • Servus Pete. Looks like I can pick her up on 26.01.2018. THE COMPASS IS HERE!!!! Just got the good news today.
    I hope that there are no problems with the recall or anything else. I ordered on 30.09.2017. So the wait till now was not that long. NOW it seems that after today till pick up the days will drag by. There is a lot of info in the owners manual so I hope I can fin a copy for Germany in english. It is better in my native language for that. I can read german but burn up my brain after a while :)


    The winter tires and rims, I will be deciding on tomorrow. I have good offer form the dealer for 17" so I am waiting for a couple of pics.

  • Ja, und früher war der wohl auch mal mein (sehr hilfsbereiter) Alfa Händler. Solange ich zur See gefahren bin (Fregatten und Zerstörer) habe ich Wilhelmshaven auch immer wieder mal als mein Zuhause bezeichnen dürfen. Die Seefahrtszeit ist leider seit 15 Jahren vorbei, aber ich will mich nicht beklagen - auch danach hatte ich sehr interessante Dienstposten.
    Das Marinemuseum hat sich die letzten Jahre ziemlich gemausert. Nach WHV komme ich in letzter Zeit allerdings sehr selten.

  • Ich hab gelesen Du bist bei der Marine? Da haben wir schon 2 Bezugspunkte, also neben Braunschweig. Ich war 8 Jahre bei der Marine. Und in WHV war ich letztens mit meinen Kindern im Marinemuseum, da war an einem Kreisel auch ein großer Jeephändler....:)
